Abstract Acrylic Art: Mat Board and Poster Scraps Chronicle

I’m hooked on using mat-board and poster scraps for my paintings. Why? Because they’re not your typical materials to work with. These materials bring a gritty texture and unique vibe to my work. No need for the fancy stuff – these scraps are great for practicing my craft.

My creative process? It’s a series of experiments. I’m testing out different techniques, from bold strokes to subtle touches, creating a mix of colors and textures that catch the eye. No rules, just seeing what works. The result? A mix of strokes, washes, and textures that bring each painting to life, lending ideas for larger canvases.

Working with mat-board and poster scraps isn’t just about the present—it’s about shaping my artistic style. The fusion of acrylic paints and polyurethane coatings, the bold colors, the fluid forms – it’s all part of trying to find a style. These materials push me to break norms and redefine what I think my abstract art can be. These materials add a kick to my creative process.

The dominance of deep blues throughout much of these works represents a sense of calm and tranquility. The layering of blue hues blend seamlessly, creating a visual that for me is reminiscent of a serene ocean. The interplay of light and shadow adds dimension, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the soothing tones.
