Dominican Republic

During my recent travel to the Dominican Republic, I had the opportunity to explore the less affluent sides of town.

Away from the popular tourist areas, you are struck by the stark contrast between the bustling resorts and the modest neighborhoods where locals reside.

It was impossible to ignore the visible disparities in living conditions and access to basic amenities compared to the resorts.

Beyond its idyllic tourist façade there were colorful houses, street vendors selling traditional snacks, and lively music filling the air.

Nevertheless, I also had the pleasure of staying at a resort nestled along the white shores of Punta Cana.

Each morning, I woke up to the sound of gently crashing waves and the sight of palm trees swaying in the Caribbean breeze. With my wife and daughter we would head down to breakfast each morning.

Afterwards the beauty of the Dominican Republic’s landscape unfurled before our eyes. The beaches white sand meeting clear waters, created a postcard-perfect scene.

At the resort, we savored the local cuisine, engaging the flavors of traditional Dominican dishes that burst with freshness and unique spices. This allowed for a slight immersion into Dominican culture.
