This canvas presented a challenge, a puncture caused by an unfortunate encounter with the side view mirror of our car. It was not a work that I was particularly attached to, but the mishap left me with a desire to salvage it. I applied my familiar techniques to repair the hole and set about blending the acrylics to match the base colors. However, it was the addition of the bold red stripe that ultimately breathed new life into the work.
Red is often associated with passion and love, but for me, it represents vitality and the pulse of life. I find the red line to be the heart of this painting, and it is often the subject of criticism. Nonetheless, it is precisely this element that draws me to it. It is a testament to the power of color to evoke different emotions and meanings for each viewer.

I wonder about the thoughts of those red stripe critics. For me the red brings needed drama to it.
That’s what I am saying but it appears many find it takes so much of your attention. Worry I guess is that the rest of the painting is lost.
