I was recently cited in London’s Daily Star while living and teaching in Oxford this month. The subject was exploring why conspiracy theories, ranging from flat Earth to ancient aliens continue to gain traction in the digital age:

In the piece, I reflect on how conspiracy thinking often stems less from fringe belief and more from distrust in institutions, feelings of social alienation, and the search for meaning amid complexity.
This topic isn’t new to me. My interest in the sociology of deviance and belief systems goes back to my graduate training under Dr. David Bromley in the Department of Sociology at Virginia Commonwealth University For GenX Forum my focus back then was on the drama around Heavy Metal music and Satanism, plus the McMartin preschool scandal. His mentorship helped shape my understanding into how marginalized worldviews form, spread, and sometimes harden into alternative realities.
