Oxford, England – #Oxford

I recently had the opportunity to live in Oxford for four weeks. Known globally for its prestigious educational institutions, Oxford’s long history makes it a city just waiting to be explored.

The block that many Maryville students and faculty resided (Juxson & Walton streets)

I have tried to embark here in sharing some of that experience as a photographic story. A journey to uncover the sociological essence of Oxford.

Much of my focus was on finding or stumbling upon examples of quintessential gathering places that serve as a fair representation of English social life.

Walking through Oxford’s streets, you are struck by the juxtaposition of deeply historic architecture and modern life.

All of my photos were from my iPhone 11. Here, I aimed to capture not just Oxford’s rich architecture, but also its eclectic social outcomes. Being an outsider I think it really attunes you to your surroundings.

A place for punting on the famous River Thames

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Oxford’s connection to the River Thames, which gracefully winds its way through the city.

With each photograph I am attempted to sneak a snapshot of the human experience. Through this photographic exploration, I hope I have shared the natural social beauty of Oxford. Cheers!
