A friend and his daughter came through town last week. He has serious photography skills, and each time he passes through we make treks through the city photographing the remnants of St. Louis’ historical built environments.

As is the case with most of my guests to the city is their noting the remarkable underuse and neglect of the historical architecture that exist here.

Nevertheless, there are still pockets of vibrant neighborhoods providing a photographer glorious picture opportunity.

Recently, the city has come into a windfall of funds. This may be the last chance to return a city to its former greatness. Not many American cities can claim to have existed under three flags and found prior to this country’s existence.
